The question regards ET presence has been hovering around for quite a while. Over the times there have been many fake rumors regarding such species nevertheless, we have formed certain assumptions as to what these aliens are all about. We have seen and heard about many different aliens and so whenever the term comes up, we are able to form a certain imagine in our minds. There have been many depictions of these creatures but somehow I fail to understand how we came to the conclusion that the aliens will be really weird and most of them would have tentacles all over their face. This article covers ten books which discuss the possible alien form. They certainly are interesting, but if you do not believe in such things, you will find them a waste of time. I, for one, found them interesting.

10. SPHERE

This book is psychological thriller. A large alien sphere is detected at the bottom of the sea in a spaceship. The sphere bestows psychic capabilities allowing shaping reality itself. There are aliens composed of gases and aliens who communicate using odor. I find this book quite interesting and therefore I will not give out many details however, I will tell you this that the book discusses the famous hypothesis of ‘apes or angels’ beautifully. It is a must read. The author of the book is called Michael Crichton.

9. THEY’RE MADE OUT OF MEAT

This is a comical short story. There is a team of explorers that is plasma-based. They come to planet Earth and find it strange that life there is made of meat. It is funny to them, the possibility of talking meat. They eventually ignore these meat creatures and believe that they will never be able to get out of their own solar system to discover the reality. This book is written by Terry Bisson.

8. THE HITCHHIKER’S GUIDE TO THE GALAXY

A human is whisked away into the galaxy. A variety of aliens are discussed in this book and all of them have been given a wonderfully amusing description for example, an alien race with fifty arms is said to have developed the underarm deodorant before the wheel. There are many like these and it sure is an interesting book to kill time. The author of this book is Douglas Adams. I am sure you are familiar with the name of this book.

7. THE SHADOW OUT OF TIME

The book talks about the alien race called ‘Yith’. They can switch their minds with other life forms and due to this ability they have gathered vast amount of knowledge. They can transfer their mind into other beings and at least once get out of being erased. The bodies are cone-shaped and they taper at neck. The head is encircled by eyes allowing vision in every direction. The book doesn’t reveal the ultimate fate of the Yith. The book is written by H. P. Lovecraft.

6. SOLARIS

There are differences between the consciousness of humans and aliens and that is what prevents communication. A ocean-like creature covers the entire planet that some space explorers stumble

upon. They attempt to communicate. The creature itself is curious about humans but they fail at communication. Dead characters come to life. Other characters are visited by their pasts and ghosts. The phenomenon is called Solaris. The book is written by Stanislaw Lem.

5. THE FIRST MAN IN THE MOON

An eccentric scientist and his companion travel to the moon. The moon is barren and white but approach dawn and so many beautiful plants sprout. The white surface is frozen oxygen. The moon is not completely solid and it has spongy tunnels and caverns. The caves are inhabited by selenites. It is a hive-like society. Every selenite has a distinct function and each one of them has a varied form. Some are small and some are big. The biggest in size and intellect are called Grand Lunar. They book is written by H. G. Wells.

4. A MEETING WITH MEDUSA

These aliens live in the clouds of Jupiter. A visit to this planet discovers an entirely different ecosystem. Tiny glowing planktons are dispersed throughout the air. There are medusas that are a mile long and gigantic. They are composed of sparse matter and are always floating in the atmosphere. The aerial sharks hunt these medusas even though they are just a 100 m long. This book is an interesting read and is written by Arthur C. Clarke.

3. THE GODS THEMSELVES

In a far off universe, the laws of physics are different from our own. There are three genders and all species have their own rights. They are far more advanced than us humans. Their thought is based on logic and intuition. These creatures are taught by even greater beings that develop machines underground. When the three genders combine to mate, they metamorphose into their supreme adult form. The book is written by Isaac Asimov.

2. DRAGON’S EGG

The Cheela have the same intelligence as humans and the same number of particles that make them up. Their planet has a stronger gravitational pull which why they are smaller. A Cheela is basically a disk that 5mm across and 0.5mm high. Their atoms are not bonded like ours. They live million times faster than us humans and they live on the surface of a neuron star. They also face humans but for a short while. They are far superior to humans and the book is written by Robert Forward.

1. STAR MAKER

The book discusses the history and possible future of the entire galaxy, cosmos and god. He describes a flock of birds in this book. They have a group mind which is made up of radio signals from each individual mind of the birds. While birds die and a reborn, the group mind is immortal and therefore it keeps becoming wiser. Then there are plants whose atmosphere begins to leech into space. He also discusses a planet with huge creatures that resemble ships. All in all, the book packs great creativity and it explains many beautiful alien creatures. The book is written by Olaf Stapledon.
